0News: Tio Pepe En Rama 2016
Presented today, the new Tio Pepe En Rama 2016 is the seventh edition of this popular Fino from Bodegas González Byass. It’s said to show great flor character on the nose, partly due to the an average amount of rainfall, a mild summer and an almost spring-like winter in Jerez. On the palate it’s fresh and citric, with a complex and saline finish. For this release, a total of 60 casks has been monitored closely and selected for their intense character, which has been preserved by the minimal filtering of course.
Like previous years, its label is inspired by old bottles from González Byass’ archives. This year’s label features medals from Alfonso XII and the Royal Seal from 1875. This year the wine will be released in 19 countries, the first being Spain and the UK in the middle of April, quickly followed by Sweden, Finland, Norway, Belgium, Ireland, Mexico, USA; Canada, China, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Germany, Seychelles and South Africa, towards the end of the month.
Update: I’ve now published my review and tasting notes of the Tio Pepe En Rama 2016
